Student Health & Wellness

FASP’s mission is to provide a nurturing and creative learning environment that enables the development of the whole child. We achieve this mission through our exemplary bilingual, multicultural education and by taking care of the physical, psychological, and emotional health of our students. Outlined below is a description of the various health and wellness support services available to our students.

At FASP, we have a dedicated Counselor, a registered Nurse, as well as access to a Child Study Team available through Monmouth Ocean Educational Services Commission

Our experienced Counselor leads the school’s Social Emotional Learning program that helps students develop self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Supplemental resources such as the popular Dr. Friendtastic podcasts are utilized to initiate discussions with students alongside planned activities and educational opportunities.

The presence of a Nurse onsite helps promote a healthy and safe school environment by providing primary medical care activities such as monitoring immunization records, administering first aid, and coordinating with parents when further medical attention is necessary.

The Monmouth Ocean Educational Services Commission works on a contracted basis with public school districts to provide services to non-public schools for students who meet the following requirements:

  • Enrolled full-time in a NJ state approved nonpublic, elementary or secondary school
  • Be between the ages of 5-20 for Chapter 192 services, or 5-21 for Chapter 193 services
  • Meet the criteria for eligibility for the specific service(s) as determined by law, code and/or regulation
  • Parents/guardians have given written consent as required yearly

Chapter 192 Services

  • Compensatory Education
  • English Language Learner (ESL)
  • Home Instruction

Chapter 193 Services

  • Child Study Team Assessment
  • Speech-Language
  • Supplementary Instruction

At FASP, we remain focused on sustaining and enhancing those important areas of wellbeing through those valuable resources. We pay close attention to the individual child and are committed to a positive learning and socialization environment for each one of our students. Our health and wellness services team work cohesively and collaboratively to provide a variety of opportunities for education, awareness, and practice.
